The birthday month comes from the date of birth saved in your Starbucks account; giving a date of birth at registration is optional.
The reward can be used on any beverage, including extras, alternative milks and upsizes.
Rewards carry their own expiry date, which is shown in the app.

Stars accumulate to nine, and a Reward is issued automatically when you make your tenth handcrafted beverage purchase.

Conditions
A Buy 9 Get 1 reward expires 12 months after it is issued.
The oldest reward in your account is used first, and you can choose which reward to redeem in the app.
Taking part in the loyalty program is optional; you do not have to scan your card at the store.
How to join
Download the Starbucks app from Google Play or the App Store. The terms ask for a device running iOS 12 or later, or Android 9 or later.
Register an account with your mobile number, name and email address. A date of birth is optional, but the birthday reward depends on it.
Check that your date of birth appears in your account before the month you want the reward.
Good to know
Membership is optional and free to join, but the loyalty benefits are tied to a registered account.
The brand can change the program and its terms.
Time-limited promotions for members, such as a weekly matcha offer, appear in the same terms and have their own end dates; they are not part of this profile.
